We are SPEAKERBREATHER, an art duo from
Gothenburg, Sweden. The name we have given our artistic style is:
deconstructed social surrealism.
By breaking down everyday life and reimagining it in an
abstract surrealist manner, our work reflects the complexities of
existence, the world around us, and the ideas that flow through and
beyond us. Our pieces invite diverse interpretations, merging precise
geometric structures with chaotic, organic forms. Our practice spans
multiple disciplines, including social-relational art, performance,
sculpture, installation, sound art, and moving image.
A key
part of our approach is the social aspect of our art. We emphasize
collaboration and engage the public through unconventional means,
creating experiences that challenge norms and invite deeper interaction.
Both of us have been deeply involved in the local art and music scenes
for our entire lives. Together and individually, we’ve exhibited our
work in numerous shows, completed custom commissions, and organized art
exhibitions and music events.
Louise is a trained art
teacher, decorator and studied at the Gothenburg School of Art. Adam is
a mechanical engineer, electrician, and 3D artist. Our art draws from
this diverse pool of skills and experiences, creating a dynamic synergy
in our collaboration.
Our contrasting cultural roots—Adam
from California and Louise from northern Sweden—infuse our work with a
rich interplay of perspectives, highlighting the tension and harmony
that define our creative process.
