ART WORK: Kulturkranen (Culture Crane)
Materials: iron, brass, stone, salt water etc.
ARTISTS: Conjecturism
The collective consists of Carl Larsson and Speakerbreather (Adam
Ward + Louise Hornberg) from Gothenburg.
The culture crane was
created during two weeks at the end of August 2021. The work is a gift
from Conjectirism to BKN. It is attached to the rock, the vertical is a
stone drill from Björkö's local metal recycling, other details also
come from there like the half potato-masher. The work holds as well a
number of pieces that the artists brought to Björkö. The parts are
selected by the artists because they, as solitaires, hold beauty and
together they form a crane that reminds us that together we can do more.
The work's name also stands as a symbol of, and homage to, art as a
force in society and with the BKN as a place for artists and art. A crane
carries the symbolic power of freedom, intelligence, honor, happiness,
royalty, luck, balance, grace, prestige and love from the mother. With the
support of the skills of walking, flying and swimming, it shows its
connection with the elements of water, emotions and feminine mystery.
The
group also worked with a number of drawings, music and with BKN as the
sounding board to lay the structure for an art node in Gothenburg.
